DECA attends state conference
Junior Brianna Townsend makes state finalist
The DECA team traveled to San Antonio to compete at state this past weekend. Each student competed in different events where they role played in business situations and were tested on it. Junior Brianna Townsend competed and was a state finalist receiving a bronze medal.
“When I got my medal I was very surprised, but happy,” Townsend said. “It was my first time competing and i thought getting state finalist was pretty good. I can’t wait to do it next year.”
Her event was titled Business Services Marketing. She was given ten minutes to prepare and ten minutes to present a solution to an issue based on a business marketing problem. This year seven DECA members traveled to state, whereas only three went last year. Senior Jennifer Munson was one of those seven.
“Our competition required us to take a written exam as well as participate in two role play scenarios specific to our event,” Munson said. “This weekend was a really great experience for me because i got to become closer to my fellow chapter members and grow my love and respect for the DECA organization.”
