Movie Review: Deadpool
February 17, 2016
If someone told me five years ago that we are going to get a Deadpool movie that not only was good, I would think you were crazy. Even though that I somewhat enjoy the character Deadpool, with his very crude and raunchy humor with his very hard to pull off fourth wall breaking humor, I don’t think that Fox, the studio that made this movie could do Deadpool justice. However, I was totally wrong and this rated R super hero movie is one of my favorite super hero films of all time. I would give Deadpool a very solid 4 out of 5.
The movie stars Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), a former soldier who meets a girl named Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and soon they fall in love. Soon after, Wade is diagnosed with cancer. Knowing that he has no other choice, he joins a program that can cure his disease and make him a superhero. The movie has a very simple plot but it works due to it being so funny.
The jokes that really hit, really hit. They do Deadpool justice in this movie and audiences can tell that Ryan Reynolds really cares about the character. All of the actors do a very good job playing their roles and they all have their moments to shine. I would have to say the villain is probably the weakest part of the movie. He isn’t terrible by any means, just compared to all of Marvel’s villains like Ultron, Thanos, and hopefully, Apocalypse, he really is a guy with a very bad temper. The fight scenes are really something to behold. They are cool, fast, and violent which fits the character so well.
Deadpool is a good time for both comic book readers and average movie goers. All the characters are very funny and cool besides the villain, the action is sweet and the comedy is so Deadpool. Go check it out.
