Artist: The Kooks, a British indie/rock band from the UK, have completely taken over my iPod recently.  Though they are not as popular here in the United States as they are overseas, they made their first American debut at South by Southwest here in Austin in 2006, shortly after the release of their first album Inside In/Inside Out. My personal favorites from this album include “Seaside”, “She Moves in Her Own Way”, “I Want You”, and “Naïve”. In 2008, they released their second album Konk. Though it would probably be a shorter list if I were to name my least favorite song(s) from that album, my favorites include “Gap”, “Love it All”, “Sway”, “Down to the Market”, “See the Sun” and “Tick of Time”.

Yes, I realize that both of these albums came out a few years ago, but The Kooks never get old. From the upbeat tempos of “Naïve” and “Down to the Market” to the catchy lyrics of “Always Where I Need to Be’, and the heartfelt lyrics of “Gap” and “One Last Time”, the British singers’ voice constantly flows through my mind.

Book: Anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so to them, my answer is no surprise. My all time favorite book will have to be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This almost 800 page book tells the final chapter of Harry Potters’ journey to conquering Lord Voldemort. Though I would love to sit here and talk about every detail of this amazing book, I would hate to ruin anything for those who haven’t read it yet or are waiting for the movie to come out (Nov. 19, please hurry!). As for my opinion on the differences of the books and the movies: Of course details are going to be left out, but I find the movies just as captivating and enjoyable as the books. But I also highly recommend reading any, if not all, of the books.

YouTube Video: My dad recently showed me this video clip of Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live from a long time ago and I almost died laughing. It’s basically Jim Carrey dressed up as a woman body builder on steroids for a work out video. He talks about how to keep his “fabulous” figure and getting buff and beautiful. Not to mention he is wearing a string bikini top and has his hair in piggy tails! Watch it and I guarantee it will make your day.

Movie: Back in June, I saw one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time…Toy Story 3. Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the first two when I was little, I would have to say that this one is definitely one of my new all time favorites. It was the perfect amount of fun, cuteness, humor, fear, and tears packed into one great movie. I went to the midnight premiere with a few of my friends and ended up seeing more people the same age as I am and older than I saw young kids. It was like a huge blast from the past, some people even dressed up as Woody, Buzz, Slinky, and the aliens. Overall, I absolutely cannot wait until it comes out on DVD. It is without doubt a new classic.
