Seniors Coe, Crone qualify for state
Crone comes in fourth place with Coe placing 12th overall
The region IV cross country results are in, placing senior cross country members Claire Crone and Rob Coe as qualified participants for the state cross country championships. The meet was held at Texas A&M Corpus Christi track in the stadium. Crone was participating in the 5A girls meet and Coe in the 5A boys meet. Crone ran with a time of 19:47 and Coe ran at a time of 17:13.
“I knew the course and I expected it to be rainy,” Coe said. “I felt like I was the only runner ready for this course because of the mental state I put myself in. After I felt great, I gave all I got. I also congratulated the Cedar Park runners before and after the race. I was really surprised that none of them advanced.”
The course was difficult due to the rain and wind according to Crone. The motivation for placing Crone said, came from them.
“We kept the same schedule for training for the regionals race,” Crone said. “Keeping routine was helpful but a lot of the training was just Rob and I wanting to go to state. It was us motivating each other really.”
The two will now run in the Texas State cross country meet on November 7. The 5A girl meet will start at 10:50 and they will be running the 5k. The 5A boys meet will begin at 11:30 and they will be running the 5k. The event will be hosted at Old Settlers Park, Round Rock TX. Tickets will be sold at $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students, cash only. Parking will be available at the Dell Diamond for $5.00, cash only.
“At state I hope to run a new [personal record],” Crone said. “Though that has to do with the conditions of the course. If it was like Saturday, times won’t matter it will be what you place, but as a goal I would like to get under 19 minutes.”
After cross country season is over, all that will be left is banquet. No date has been set.
