Junior Kellie Jeanes hitting a home run during the bottom of the third inning. The Lady Lions then finished off that inning leading 10-1.

The Lady Lions softball game against Seguin was moved to Vista Ridge softball fields due to rain. After moving the game and dealing with a delay the Lady Lions showed no mercy and came away with a win 11-1.

“I think we did really well putting the ball in play, and taking advantage of their mental errors,” senior Shelby Irlbeck said, “and scoring as many runs as possible.”

After the first inning, the Lady Lions took off with a 3-1 lead over Seguin. The Lady Lions then scored another run during the second inning giving the Lady Lions a 4-1 lead. During the third inning junior Kellie Jeanes hit a home run to give the Lady Lions an 8-1 lead. After that the Lady Lions scored another two times before the end of the inning making it a 10-1 game. Both the fourth and fifth innings were scoreless. The game ended early after the Lady Lions scored another run with the Lady Lions earning the victory 11-1.

“I think we had more chemistry together, and working together to make outs,” Irlbeck said, “and staying together to make hits to make a lot of runs.”

After the game the Lady Lions were named area champs. The regional quarterfinals will be on May 14th and May 15th at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hill High School against Georgetown. If there is a tie between the two games there will be a game on Saturday May 16th at 2 p.m.
