Lions wrestle to 7th place at tournament
Varsity wrestling competes at Craig T. Grace Centex Tournament
The varsity wrestlers competed last weekend at the Craig T. Grace Centex Tournament and placed 7th out of all the schools that attended.
“We finished 7th overall which is a great showing for the Lions,” Head Coach Adam McLain said. “All of the wrestlers who competed did a great job to continue our growth as a program.”
Freshman John Geiger won 1st overall for his division in the 106 pound weight class. Junior Zeke Garcia took 4th in the 220 weight class and junior Ricky Smith also took home 4th for the 120 weight class.
“I think I did pretty well because of all the effort I have put in with the coaches and my team mates,” Smith said. “Honestly I wouldn’t have placed if it weren’t for them. A lot of diversity in the wrestling room keeps me on my toes and ready for what any wrestler has to throw at me.”
The team will compete next at the Travis Duals on Saturday at the Burger Center.
