This year’s UIL One Act Play, A Hatful of Rain, will be advancing to district on Friday, March 28, after competing at zone on Wednesday.

A Hatful of Rain is about a Korean War veteran, Johnny Pope, played by senior Gavin Barron, living his life in lower east side New York with his pregnant wife Celia Pope, played by junior Chloe Berlinger, and his brother Polo, played by junior Elias Martinez, in 1957. Johnny’s father, played by junior Kameron Golden, comes to visit from Palm Beach. Little do his father and wife know, Johnny is hooked on morphine and will do almost anything to get it.

Some of the cast and crew were awarded individual medals. Martinez, Golden, and junior Zane Hudson were awarded Honorable Mention All-Star Cast; senior Emily Steele was awarded All-Star Tech; and Barron and Berlinger were awarded All-Star Cast.

Vandegrift’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Dripping Springs’s Eurydice, and Cedar Park’s Figaro will also be advancing to district. Break a leg!
