Prom will take place on April 9th at the University of Texas at Austin Club.

The annual prom this year will have contracts that students have to sign in order to purchase prom tickets. Prom tickets are $30 starting next week, and the price will increase as prom gets closer.

“I believe that the expectations for behavior at prom should already be understood by the students,” senior Lillian Pham said. “I’m unclear about what purpose a contract would serve.”

According to Assistant Principal Moises Trejo, the contract is used to ensure that prom will be fun and safe.

“One of the purposes for having a contract for prom is so that we can try our best to ensure that students from Leander ISD have a good and safe prom,” Mr. Trejo said. “We want to make sure that everyone’s going to be okay getting there, that everybody’s going to be okay getting home, and that we try to help students understand that being there should be a fun time for everybody, and that there shouldn’t be anything to mess that up, or ruin that for anyone. That’s part of the reason for putting that contract together. Another part is, is we want students and parents to be aware of what our expectations are for Leander ISD. We want them to know that we expect our students to abide by the student code of conduct. No matter where they are, such as a school function like prom.”

The prom court nominated this year are for prom king; Matthew Long, Jacob Potter, EJ Olivo, Miguel Mendoza and Brian Tubonemi. For prom queen; Nancy Ibarra, Jennifer Munson, Kylie Douglas, Etiana Guzman, Lillian Pham and Claire Jenkins.

“It’s a very humbling experience because when I was younger, like in middle school, it was a dream of everyone’s to become prom queen,” Douglas said. “To be able to have a chance to have that title is almost a dream come true.”

Prom tickets are sold at the front office, and in the APs office during lunch. Tickets are $30 from March 28th – April 1st, and $40 from April 4th – April 8th. Tickets at the door will be $50.
