Whether students are looking for family friendly fun or festive frights, there’s a local event just for the occasion. Here are five fall activities to get students out of the house and in the halloween spirit.
Trunk or Treat
On Oct. 30 from 6-8p.m., Leander High School will put on its annual Trunk or Treat event. This event is free to attend, and is run by student organizations and clubs right here at LHS. So show up in costume, bring a bag for candy and come hungry.
Haunted Hallway
As usual, the cheerleaders will be hosting the Haunted Hallway during trunk or treat. The haunted house experience students know and love takes the form of a spook-filled hallway in this annual halloween fright. The Haunted Hallway is $5 for one go-round and $10 for unlimited access, and all proceeds of the event will go to LHS cheer.
House of Torment
Known for its one of a kind scares, Austin’s legendary halloween event is open every night through Nov. 3. The haunted house is “an intense fear-inducing experience” that may not be suitable for children under 12 years of age, according to House of Torment’s website.
Pumpkin Patches
With additional activities like corn mazes and hayrides, nothing gets students in the fall spirit more than a visit to the pumpkin patch. Some nearby pumpkin patches offer free admission, like Sweet Berry Farm, while others, such as Pioneer Farms, Sweet Eats Fruit Farm and Mama Mary’s Farm cost an admission fee of somewhere between $10 to $25 dollars per person. However you decide, a pumpkin patch is sure to be a fun experience for all ages.
Austin Haunted Walking Tour
In this historical halloween event, tour guides take guests through a walking tour through Austin’s ghostly past. Available on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m., the tour costs $28 for adults and $12 for children. Austin Ghost Tours prides themselves on being “the only tour with professional storytellers who tell [Austin’s] fascinating history.”
