Cinco de Mayo celebrations, a Kendrick Lamar concert, and more things you can do in May

As the school year comes to a close, many students are now looking forward to their summer break. But, there are still things you can do before the summer kicks off. Check some cool events you can go to before our school year is over.

 

Southwest Key and KnowWhere ATX Cinco de Mayo celebration: May 5

 

Two major programs will be hosting Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Austin. The Southwest Key event will  have music, dance, art, activities, and food. Performances include music by ​Trajes Típicos de Latinoamérica, Ballet Folklorico Highland Park Elementary, Mariachi, Ballet Folklorico, Teatro, and the Plow Boyz. KnowWhere ATX will be hosting a crawfish boil with other mexican foods and drinks. The events will be hosted at 6002 Jain Ln, Austin and 516 E. 6th St, Austin respectively.

 

Central texas airshow: May 4 – 6

 

The Central Texas airshow will be hosting a multi-day event that will be showcasing a number of different aircraft shows. These shows include reenactments of Pearl Harbor, flyovers by WW2 bomber planes, a choreographed reenactment for Vietnam veterans, comedy by Kyle Franklin, and a music performance by Dan Buchanan. The event will be at 7720 Airport Rd. Temple.

 

Top Dawg Entertainment presents The Championship Tour: May 18

 

The Top Dawg Entertainment Championship tour will be having a show in Austin on the 18th. The show will  have performances by Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, SiR, Lance Skiiiwalker and more artists. Ticket prices will range from $35 to $125.

The concert will be at the Austin360 Amphitheater on 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd.

 

Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza Memorial Day Ceremony: May 28

Georgetown-Williamson county will be hosting an event to commemorate those who have served and lost their lives in the U.S armed forces. The event will have a memorial service for the fallen, a speech from guest speaker U.S. Senator John Cornyn, and music from the 36th Infantry Division Band of the Texas Army National Guard. You can also a veteran you known honored with an engraved that will be added to the memorial plaza which can be ordered from the CA Member Services Office. The event will be held at 2 Texas Drive, Sun City, Georgetown.
