After continuing to maintain an overall record of 17 to 13, varsity boys basketball will be moving onto playoffs.

Although they lost 60 to 44 against Dripping Springs, Seniors Calvin McBride, Brian Baptiste, and Z Mohamed had a great game. McBride scored 13 points, had two assists, and had four rebounds. Baptiste scored 10 points and had six rebounds. Mohamed scored eight points and had three rebounds.

The game against Vista Ridge, however, had a much different outcome. The Lions won 50 to 48. Major players of the game were McBride, senior Jordan Obe, and Baptiste. McBride scored 26 points, had four assists and six rebounds. Obe scored 11 points and had five rebounds. Baptiste scored seven points and had four rebounds.

“We definitely feed off the crowd,” McBride said.

The game began with a tip to the Rangers, and baskets were being made within seconds, but by half time, the Lions were trailing.

“[The goal was to] just keep our heads in it,” McBride said. “Believe, don’t give up, keep fighting. We knew we’d pull it out.”

McBride scored the deciding point against the Rangers, aiding the win of the Lions.

“[Going through his head] just to finish,” McBride said. “That was it; make the basket.”

The boys have a game tonight against the Marble Falls Mustangs at 7 p.m. in the Competition gym. Good luck, Lions!
