The blue team watches as the red team beats Killeen. The blue team watches the red team play before every game.

The JV Lions traveled to Pflugerville last Thursday and both teams got the win with scores of 28-7 and 28-20.

“The team played great, [and] at first we struggled in the first half,” junior Alex McGill said. “But in the second half we came back and showed them what Leander Lions can do.”

The red team played first and won with a score of 28-7. Sophomore quarterback Colt Davis and sophomore tight end Josh Rude helped keep the offense moving throughout the game.

The defense fought hard for the second game in a row, this time only allowing one touchdown to be scored. Their tackles and stops helped keep the pressure off the offense.

“Last year was a rough season and we want to be the ones on top this time,” Rude said. “It’s all the work we put in every morning and every afternoon that makes us who we are.”

The blue team defeated Pflugerville with a score of 28-20. Quarterback junior Kyle Irlbeck helped lead the team with important throws, runs, and helping keep the team positive and working hard throughout the game.

Jeremy Kracy had another strong game and helped the defense to make crucial stops all game against a fast-paced Pflugerville offense.

“I thought the JV blue came with a hard-fought physical game,” Coach Grissom said. “The red team performed strong as well.”

Both JV teams play next week on Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. at Rouse against the Raiders.
