The Varsity Girls’ soccer team swept the competition this past weekend at their tournament in Pleasanton, securing a first place victory for the second year in a row.

“That weekend we finally came together as a team,” senior co-captain Xhesika Ceka said. “Everything we’d been working for fell into place.”

Of the three games they played, the girls dominated every one, conceding no goals to their opponents throughout the weekend. When they defeated ____ 9-0, the girls were excited when their opponents congratulated them on their footwork.

“After the game, they told us it was a privilege to play against us,” Ceka said. “They could’ve left after that, but they stayed behind and cheered us on at our next game.”

Senior Bri Vargas attributes the team’s success to their unique system of playing taught to them by Coach Michael.

“Nothing is ever done because of one player,” Vargas said. “It’s always a team effort.”

The Varsity Girls’ soccer team will play their next game against Georgetown next Tuesday, January 27 at Georgetown. Their first official district game will be on Friday, January 30 against Vandy. Come out and support this amazing group of young women!
