Lady Lion Varsity Soccer Kicks Off
The Lady Lion varsity soccer team has begun their district season. There have been a lot of surprising aspect to their season thus far. The girls are still defeated but their level has grown and will hopefully be recognized.
The ladies played a shocking game against the Vista Ridge Lady Rangers. The Lady Lions not only kept the Lady Rangers from scoring until the last two minutes of the game, they scored in the first half and maintained the lead for the majority of the game. Unfortunately all of their efforts did not pay off. Though they may have deserved the win because of their incredible game, the Lady Rangers were able to squeeze out two points before the final whistle was blown making the score Leander 1, Vista Ridge 2. A devastating loss for the team.
Not all the games have turned out to be so close. This past Wednesday night, February 12th, the Lady Lions endured a devastating loss against the Rouse Lady Raiders. This game appeared to be a different team playing than in previous games.
“It’s not that anything changed, it’s just we stopped communicating at all,” senior captain Cynthia Roman-Lopez said.
The lady Lions will travel to Marble Falls to face the Lady Mustangs. Though the game earlier this week was not a shining moment for the team, they hope to be able to look past it tonight so that they can secure a victory.
“We need to play how we play, and communicate with each other,” Roman-Lopez said.
