Golf has competed in three competitions this month and the girls team finished third at the Crystal Falls tournament. The all sophomore girls team includes Sabrina Stafin, Julia Ouchie, Beth Taylor, and Sydney Jass.

“It’s felt great to finish third,” Taylor said. “I don’t think the boys teams have placed all season, so it feels nice to beat them. We have a friendly rivalry.”

The girls team also finished third last month at the Llano Invitational on February 16.

“After Llano, we might be stuck in a third place rut,” Stafin said. “That’s better than nothing though.”

The Crystal Falls golf course was new to the girls team.

“I don’t really like new courses because you don’t know the terrain,” Taylor said. “It’s easier to compete on a familiar course, but that’s golf.”

The girls team competed with the Boys I team before their Crystal Falls tournament on March 5 at Delaware Springs. The Boys I and II teams competed on March 8 at Delaware Springs again. The girls team competed on March 21 and 22 at the Lake Cliff golf course in a district tournament. The teams did not attain a placement at these tournaments.

“After finishing third at Star Ranch, it’s a little disappointing not to win,” sophomore Ryan Palmer said. “[We] just need to practice and get better and better.”

The Boys I and II teams will compete on April 5 and 6 at the Delaware Springs golf course in a district tournament.
