The Lady Lions softball team won their game against the Georgetown Lady Patriots 5-2 on April 3.

“[I did] really good,” junior Hailey MacKay said. “I felt like I played solid defense and I sparked our offense and gave us some clutch hits when we needed them, especially to give us that fifth run in the fifth inning when I hit that double.”

After the first inning, the Lady Lions were down 1-0 against Georgetown. The Lady Lions took the lead in the second inning to make it a 2-1 game. After the third inning, the Lady Lions advanced their lead to 4-1. In the fourth inning, the Lady Lions held their lead to 4-2. The Lady Lions scored another run to make it a 5-2 game after the fifth inning. The sixth inning was scoreless, and after the top of the seventh, the Lady Lions won 5-2 against the Lady Patriots. The Lady Lions’ next game will be at Vandegrift at 7 on April 7.

“I was so proud of our team for doing the little things right like moving runners into scoring position by getting our bunts down,” MacKay said, “and we got the clutch hits when we needed them.”
