The varsity softball team fell to the Cedar Park Lady Timberwolves last Friday 1-9. Junior Katie Hickam hit one single and one double in the game, senior Gabby Walton hit two singles and sophomore Mackenzie Catalina hit two singles. Freshman Jasmyn Dominguez also hit two singles in the game. Sophomore Brie Damron scored the one run for the game when she ran for Hickam after her double.

“I feel like we started off strong in the first two innings but we just fell off after then,” Damron said. “We weren’t able to have clutch hits when needed and we would leave people on base. I feel like if we had just stopped, took a breath and relaxed we would have done a whole lot better. We didn’t play our game that night, for some reason we all seemed really nervous and pressured which caused us to have so many mistakes. If we had played like we are capable of playing and played relaxed I’m pretty confident that we would have beaten Cedar Park.”

Cedar Park led the majority of the game with the Lady Lions scoring their only run in the fourth inning after Hickam hit a double, and senior Kellie Jeanes hit a single. Catalina then hit a single to bring substitute runner Damron to home plate for the run.

“We just need to come out on top,” Walton said. “Especially since we’re going to be hitting first we need to score first, we need to score early and we need to score a lot.”

The Lady Lions will travel to Marble Falls tomorrow to take on the Lady Mustangs at 7.
