The Lady Lions varsity softball team fell to Dripping Springs 5-15, amongst the light drizzle last night. At the start of the game, junior Abbey Orlich walked a base, and senior Gabby Walton hit a line drive double. Senior Hailey MacKay also hit the fence for two RBIs. After that first inning, the score was tied 2-2.

“We just need to be confident that we’re capable,” MacKay said. “I don’t think the score last night really reflects how we played because we were neck and neck with Drip until we gave away too much but we’re more than capable of beating them and the other teams we’ve lost to in the second round. We just have to make the clutch plays when we get the chance.”

The Lady Lions scored three more runs in the game, but trailed Dripping Springs throughout the night. Next, the Lady Lions will play their second round matchup in Georgetown against the Lady Eagles.

“Our main focus right now would probably be coming out ready to fight on Friday,” senior Kellie Jeanes said. “Georgetown is a good team, but we have to be ready to fight until the last inning of the game and leave everything we have in us out on the field. We have to stay focused and not let little errors get to us and bring us down. We need to get in the right mindset and be confident in ourselves and each other. From there only great things will happen.”
