The swim team competed against eight teams in district this past weekend.  Leander placed sixth at district for girls and seventh for boys out of nine schools.

We’ve had some awesome time improvements and have been really competitive this season. We’re the only school in the area that is sending all six relays to regionals.

According to swim coach, Jason Schmidt, the girls 200 Medley relay broke the school record. Also, Matt Whieldon broke the 100 freestyle record as well as having three  swimmers, junior Sarah Cano, senior Tanja Milanovic and junior Matthew Whieldon, qualify individually for regionals.

Cano won fifth in the 200 yard individual medley and second in the 100 yard backstroke. Milanovic placed second in the 200 individual medley and fifth in the 500 yard freestyle. Whieldon received sixth in the 100 yard freestyle.

“Everyone did so well at district,” senior Tanja Milanovic said. “We really put in our all and had a great time.”

The next meet will be at regionals this Friday and Saturday in Dallas.
