In San Antonio last Saturday and Friday the varsity track team ended their season before State despite placing six members.

“I am most proud of the leadership that my seniors have shown through their work ethic and dedication,” Girls’ Head Coach Gigi Heermans said. “They have truly left huge shoes to fill for the future Lady Lions.”

My tack experience at Leander has been fun and has taught me to keep working hard and to not give up.

For the boys junior Charlie Ruiz placed 8th in the 110 meter hurdles and sophomore Gavin Davis placed 5th in regionals in the 400 meter. For the girls senior Claire Crone finishes 5th in the 1600 meter and 6th in the 3200 meter, senior Funmi Orekoya finished 5th in the 400 meter and the 4×400 meter relay team placed 5th despite getting their best time of the year. For seniors this is their last time competing for the track team.

“My tack experience at Leander has been fun and has taught me to keep working hard and to not give up,” Crone said. “My teammates are probably my favorite part of track so I’ll miss them the most.”
