Lady Lions Volleyball Season Summary

Summary of the 2014 Lady Lion volleyball season.

With one game left in the non-district season, Lady Lion volleyball has a record of 27-11. The ladies have a district record of 10-2.

Hendrickson Hawks, 0-3

Their first game was played against the Hendrickson Lady Hawks on August 11. In set one, the Lady Hawks took charge on the court and by the end of the set managed a victory of 25-13(might need to change these scores as well. Go look at a volleyball story from last year and check, Emary for sure knew how to record scores because she was a manager). In set two, the Lady Hawks managed to claim a second victory with a score of 25-21. In the third set, the Lady Lions just couldn’t squeeze in a victory. The score was 25-16 by the end of the third set.

Westlake Chapparals, 0-3

The Lady Lions played their next game against the Westlake Lady Chapparals on August 12. In the first set, the Lady Chapparals claimed a victory with a score of 25-12. In the second set, Westlake took charge again and won the second set with a score of 25-13. In the third and final set, the Lady Lions came close to a victory but couldn’t secure it. The score for the third set was a close 26-24.

Westwood Varsity Tournament, 0-2

The Lady Lions played only two sets for their game against the Westwood Lady Warriors on August 14. In the first set, the Lady Lions played well, but didn’t succeed with a victory. The score for the first set was 25-16. During the second set, the Lady Lions tried their hardest, but couldn’t secure a win. The score for the second set was 25-17.

Brentwood Christian, 2-0

The Lady Lions showed the Brentwood Christian Lady Bears what they were made of on August 15. Although only two sets were played, the Lady Lions performed excellently. In the first set, the Lady Lions secured a victory with a score of 25-17. In the second set, the Lady Bears fought back, but the girls were unstoppable. The score for the second set was 25-22.

Pflugerville Panthers, 2-1

The next Lady Lion volleyball game was played against the Pflugerville Lady Panthers on August 19. The Lady Lions were unable to secure a victory for the first set. The Lady Panthers took the victory with a score of 18-25. In the second set, things started to look up for the ladies. They took the victory with a score of 25-19. In the third and final set, the Lady Lions secured another victory with a score of 25-20.

Round Rock Dragons, 3-2

The girls played their next game against the Round Rock Lady Dragons on Tuesday, August 26. The overall score was two to three, with the victory going to the Lady Lions. Way to go, ladies!

Cedar Ridge Raiders, 3-1

The Lady Lions played their next game against the Cedar Ridge Lady Raiders on Tuesday, September 2. Four sets were played in this game. In the first set, the Lady Lions snatched a victory from the Lady Raiders with a score of 25-22. In the second set, the Lady Lions dominated the court with a winning score of 25-20. The third set unfortunately didn’t go so well for the Lady Lions. The Lady Raiders took the victory with a score of 18-25. The fourth set was played in the favor of the Lady Lions. The score was 25-17.  The victory was secured by the Lady Lions.

McNeil Mavericks, 0-3

The next Lady Lion volleyball game was played against the McNeil Lady Mavericks on Friday, September 5. McNeil snatched a victory for all three sets that were played. Set one was 25-21, set two was 25-17, and the third set was 25-18.

Dripping Springs Tigers, 2-3

The following game was played against the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers on September 12. Five sets were played in this game. In the first set, the Lady Tigers gave up the victory to the Lady Lions with a score of 19-25. In the second set, Dripping Springs came back and took the victory with a score of 20-25. The third set was played in the favor of the Lady Tigers who finished the third set with a score of 27-29. The Lady Lions bounced back in the fourth set and secured a victory with a 29-27 score. In the third and final set, the Lady Tigers snatched the victory from the Lady Lions with a score of 15-12.

Cedar Park Timberwolves, 0-3

The Lady Lions played against our classic rival, the Cedar Park Lady Timberwolves on Thursday, September 16. Cedar Park dominated the court and took the victory for all three sets of the game. The score for set one was 25-16, the second set was 25-16 and the third and final set was 25-12.

Georgetown Eagles, 0-3

On September 9, the Lady Lions played their next game against the Georgetown Lady Eagles. The Lady Lions couldn’t secure a victory for any of the three sets that were played. The score for set one was 25-12, the score for the second set was 25-16, and the score for the third set was 25-15.

Marble Falls Mustangs, 3-0

The Lady Lions played their next game against the Marble Falls Lady Mustangs. The ladies played excellently against Marble Falls and secured a victory for all three sets that were played. The score for set one was 25-8, the score for set two was 25-10, and the score for the third set was 25-17. Awesome job, ladies! Lockey had 10 kills, sophomore Ana Mirtsching had 10 assists, Ellison had 10 digs, and Senior Erica Lavin had 6 blocks.

Vandegrift Vipers, 0-3

The next Lady Lion volleyball game was played against the Vandegrift Lady Vipers on September 26. The Lady Vipers took the victory for all three sets, but the Lady Lions didn’t go down without a fight. For set one, the score was 25-17, the score for set two was 25-19, and the score for set three was 25-18.

Eastview Patriots, 2-3

Next, the Lady Lions played against the Eastview Lady Patriots on September 30. The overall score was two to three with the victory going to the Lady Patriots.

Vista Ridge Rangers, 1-3

The following game was played against the Vista Ridge Lady Rangers on October 3. This game had four sets that were played. Although Vista Ridge took three victories out of the four sets that were played, the Lady Lions still pushed on and played well. The score for the first set was 21-25, the second set was 26-24, the third set was 25-15, and the fourth and final set was 23-25.

Dripping Springs Tigers, 0-3

The Lady Lions took on the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers for a second time on October 7. The Lady Lions couldn’t secure a victory for any of the three sets that were played. The score for set one was 25-12, the second set was finished at 25-14, and the third set was also finished at 25-14.

Cedar Park Timberwolves, 0-3

The Lady Lions also took on our classic rival, the Cedar Park Lady Timberwolves on Friday, October 10, for a second time. Cedar Park took the victory for all three sets, even though the Lady Lions worked hard and persevered. The score for set one was 25-18, the score for set two was 27-25, and the score for the third set was 25-16.

Georgetown Eagles, 1-3

Next, the Lady Lions faced the Georgetown Lady Eagles a second time on Tuesday, October 14. The Lady Eagles took the victory for three sets of the four that were played. Set one came to a score of 27-25, the second set came to a score of 24-26, the third set finished at 25-17. The Lady Lions bounced back in the fourth set and claimed a victory with a score of 25-19.

Marble Falls Mustangs, 3-0

The Lady Lions challenged the Marble Falls Lady Mustangs on Tuesday, October 21 for a second time and took the victory for all three sets! Set one finished at 25-17, the second set finished at 25-15 and the third set came to 20-25.
