This past week the Leander Lady Lion varsity volleyball team took on Cedar Ridge Lady Raiders Tuesday night as well as the Stony Point Lady Tigers on Friday night.

Tuesday night, the team was able to sweep the Lady Raiders in a swift three games. In the first match, the Lady Lions came out on top with a score of 25-17. The second match was just as victorious with a score of 25-15. While the third match was closer in score, the team came out with a win, 25-23.

The team encountered some set backs; junior starter Autumn Lockley was not present at the game, and senior Hannah Giamfortone fractured her finger, but that proved to be minor for the hard working team.

On Friday night the team was victorious against the Stony Point Lady Tigers. The first match was close and heated towards the end of the match.

The Lady Lions were able to come out on top winning with a score of 25-23. Megan Slan, senior, ended the match with three kills in a row.

The second two matches were not as close. The start of the second match was neck and neck. A combination of missed serves as well as hitting errors made by both teams, resulted in a close game. The girls were able to take the lead by point eight.

The rest of the match was a display of aggressive plays at the net by Slan. The match’s ending score was 25-13.  The girls were able to sweep the third game with a score of 25-17. The lady lions had aggressive serves by senior Erica Luke as well as from junior Paige Ellison.

Come out and support the team tomorrow night at 6:00 against McNeil Mavericks at McNeil and on Friday night against Marble Falls Mustangs at Marble Falls for the beginning of district play!
