After a year of construction, the new dance gym opened on Monday to accommodate dance classes, Blue Belles and the cheer team.
Senior and Sapphire Viara Doichev: “Honestly I really love the upgrades. This studio is so much bigger than what it used to be. The opportunity to share this room with the cheer team is so special. We have the option to divide the room in half with a curtain that moves in and out of the ceiling. If both teams are working at the same time, it creates a barrier so we can have our own space.”
Dance coach Ashley Williams: “I’m so excited about this new room. I like sharing the room with cheer because it opens up the opportunity for collaboration with both dance and cheer. What the girls’ view as feeling like home is when they see our sign go up and all of our historical artifacts. To them, what feels like home is when they come in and they see their history and the people who laid the foundation before them. When they saw that sign go up, they were so excited. Plus now we have the facilities that are required to train correctly for the anatomy of a body. Student and dancer safety has skyrocketed with this new space, and that definitely helps train the dancers to become the best versions of themselves.”
Dance Coach Lupe Sommer: “It’s a great change from what we’ve been dealing with for the past year in the rubber gym. So we’re really excited to just be in a new space that feels like it’s home.”
