After a long season, the varsity boys basketball season retired their jerseys to the locker room, losing their first playoff game to LBJ Austin 67 to 54.

The boys advanced to playoffs after having an overall record of 18-13.

“[On the bus ride over] we didn’t do a lot of talking, just trying to focus on the game between ourselves,” senior point guard Calvin McBride said.

Although most people wouldn’t make the drive to LBJ, there were a handful of Leander community members in attendance.

When the ball was tipped, it went to LBJ.

“We started off kind of slow, but we had our runs, we almost caught up towards the end,” McBride said, “but for the most part we were pretty in-tune.”

The Lions had a great season, but it’s not time to give up yet.

“Coach is stressing that the players that are going to be on varsity next year shoot the ball more consistently,” McBride said, “get stronger and faster, and they just work hard this off-season to get prepared for next year.”

Following the season, several players were chosen for All-District team honors. Seniors Brian Baptiste and Calvin McBride were named to the 25-4A First Team, and senior Jordan Obe was awarded a spot on the Second Team All-District.
