Lady Lions face tough opponent in tournament

Lady Lions huddled before their game. They do this as preparation before each match.

VARSITY

The varsity team fell to Round Rock, being swept in three sets on Tuesday night. The first set outcome came out to 25-14, the second 25-20 and the third 25-12.

“We brought so much energy to the court and made great plays during crucial rallies,” senior varsity player Callie Reed said. “It was awesome to see everyone work together and go crazy when we got points.”

JV

The JV team lost their game against Round Rock as well. Unlike the Varsity team which plays up to five sets, the JV and freshman teams only play three sets. The JV lost the first two sets of their match 25-20 and 25-13.

“I think the game went really well even though we didn’t come out on top,” freshman JV player Amanda Larson said. “We fought hard, played well and communicated as a team. We almost pulled through but overall played great as a team and had a good night that we can learn from.”

FRESHMAN

The freshman teams are divided into an A and B team. The A team lost their first set 25-22 and lost the second one as well. The freshman B team lost with the first set outcome being 25-6 and the second 25-11.

“I think we did better defensively recovering their outside hits,” freshman A team player Hannah Bode said. “At the same time we also did well offensively going up strong and attacking. We just didn’t have the turnout we were hoping for in the second set.”

The Varsity team had a tournament this past weekend at Volleyfest with the outcome being eight losses and one win. The Lady Lions next games began today at Volleypalooza and will be going until Saturday, the 29th.
