Peace Through Pie…in the Face

In order to advertise Peace Through Pie on January 17, C-Squared hosted a pie throw at all lunches January 10.

Peace Through Pie is a national organization that was developed to honor Martin Luther King Day and to give it a food that people can associate with it, like a turkey for Thanksgiving and or eggs for Easter.

“Leanne Stovall, the founder of Peace Through Pie, started these pie socials as a way to celebrate peace,” C-Squared Sponsor Sarah Ambrus said.

The pie social is open to the entire community and will be hosted at the LEO center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on January 17.

“Any kind of pie, it doesn’t have to be a desert pie,” Ambrus said. “Basically, we want it to be something that reflects your culture.”

There will be a pie contest. In order to participate, you have to submit your recipe with your pie.  The winning pie will be featured in all L.I.S.D. school cafeterias for one day. First, second, and third place winners will receive prizes.
