On Monday, a Veterans Day assembly will be held in the PAC at 10:15 a.m. and all veterans are welcome to attend.

Social Studies department coordinator Michelle Lux is running the ceremony. Air Force Junior ROTC students will set up a prisoner of war table. In the program, Senior Daniel Guerrero will read “The Story of Taps” while junior Matthias Chew and senior Ethan Lavey play taps on trumpet. Also, ASL three and four students will interpret the entire ceremony. Tenor Bass Choir will sing “Who are the Brave” by Joseph Martin, and Blue Belles will dance to “God Bless the U.S.A”. Senior Victoria Lopez will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and junior Grace Cantwell will sing the national anthem.

“The Social Studies Department wants to honor the men and women who have served our country and to provide an opportunity for students to also celebrate and recognize those that have fought for our freedom,” Lux said. “It is important for Leander High School to honor the individuals who at one point in their life wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America,’ for an amount up to, and including, their life.”
