Volleyball went against Vandegrift Friday night, September 25. The Vipers were the winners of these games with victories across the board.

Varsity

After coming off of a win against Marble Falls, Varsity lost first three sets to Vandegrift. The first set came out to 14-25, the second set 12-25 and the third set 15-25.

“We really worked together by bringing each other up when we were down,” sophomore Pilar Gonzaba said.

Junior Varsity

The JV team lost 2-0 against Vandegrift, playing defensively during the game. The first set was 15-25 and the second 18-25.

“We just didn’t show up to the game and we didn’t play the best we could,” freshman Emily Johnston said. “We will see them again and the game will be completely different.”

Freshman A

The Freshman A team focused more on offense during their game but lost their sets against the Vipers. The final outcome of the game was 2-0 with the score of the first set being 16-25 and the second 20-25.

“I think we could’ve worked on moving our feet more, communicating on the court and staying positive throughout the entire match,” freshman Hannah Bode said. “I do think we started off well offensively attacking and covering the other team’s blocks.”

Freshman B

With an ending score of 2-0, the freshman B team also lost against Vandegrift.  The team had a productive offense similar to the JV team, scoring the highest points in their two sets out of all four teams. The score for the first set was 20-25 and the second 19-25.

“As a team I think we played pretty well,” freshman Haven Crawford said. “There are definitely things we need to work on, but we have gotten stronger as a team.”

The next game the Lady Lions play will be tonight at home. The girls will be playing Eastview at 5:30 and 6:30.
