After beginning the year with a soft opening on B days only, the school store, The Pride, is now open on A and B days during 3rd and 7th period. They sell school supplies, spirit wear and recently began selling cookies. They also have a microwave available for student use.

“It’s definitely helped with funding,” DECA member Frances Venditte said. “It’s really hard to say how it’s impacted the club right now, but I feel like in the future it will definitely bring the entrepreneur skills that people hope to gain from the club.”

Some students in DECA plan to become business owners after they graduate from high school. The class period dedicated to this school store is called problems and solutions. Senior Jennifer Munson is in this class period and part of the vice president membership of DECA.

“It taught me a lot about how to run my own business because I did not know it was this stressful,” Munson said. “Ordering everything, making sure everything’s ready on time, organizing it, the financial side of it. This is what I want do in my future, I want to have my own business, so it’s really eye opening.”

The store is open during all three lunches and for a short time after school.
