The Lady Lions softball team faced a close game against Elgin. JV didn’t play so varsity started early.

“I feel like I made really good solid contact with the ball,” junior Hailey MacKay said. “I think I gave us the run we needed to get our offense going. As a team I think we did a good job scoring a lot of runs.”

The Lady Lions led the first inning 2-1 against the Lady Wildcats. The second inning was scoreless as the Lady Lions continued to lead Elgin. In the third inning the Lady Lions continued to lead 5-1. After the fourth inning Elgin scored two more runs to make it a 5-3 game. The fifth and sixth innings were scoreless with the Lady Lions still on top. The Lady Lions held on at the top of the seventh inning to gain another victory making the Lady Lions 2-1 so far in the season.

“At first I kind of thought I had gone over but it was good,” MacKay said describing her doubles hit. “I was surprised she didn’t catch it too because it looked like she was running but lost it. That was a good feeling.”

Next week the Lady Lions will start district play at Georgetown on March 10.
