The world changes and so do the people. We can only hope that it changes for the better.

Walking through the hallways as a senior, I’ve noticed that I’ve entered a different world. Not the one I’m going to enter into (college), the one I’m already in.

We live in a world full of growth. Kindness and anger. Happiness and jealousy. It’s a world that as children, we did not know existed. It’s a world that I’ve recently opened my eyes to. With each change made, puberty to adulthood. A growth in technology, in lifestyle. In vegetation, in forest space. There are changes all around us, growth, life.

No longer are we able to say that we do not know the consequences or the result of our actions. No longer can we beg for the term innocence, we are not in that world. Even the younger generations have changed, grown to be something else; something different.

As the saying goes, the times are changing, and if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. But this isn’t the world that I imagined on joining.

A world full of hate and distrust. A world of changing times, but maybe not for the best. A world where five year-olds have cell phones and the older generations still needs help programming the VCR. Where there are more people in prison, and not enough space to keep them. Where it’s better to go to prison than to be homeless.

It’s a changing world, a different world, and it will continue, but it needs to start changing for the better.
